Michael James Nelson is a comedy writer and performer working out of Los Angeles and New York. He’s written for many different television shows including the MTV Movie Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers on NBC, and much more. Writing for these shows has given Michael the opportunity to write for Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Chris Rock, The Rock, Amy "The Rock" Schumer, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Betty White, Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jason Bateman, Mark Wahlberg, Danny McBride, Jimmy Fallon, Melissa McCarthy and many others.

Michael’s performing credits include writing and starring in a half-hour hidden camera pilot for CBS called Jokes On You hosted by Jay Mohr. He’s also appeared on Will Ferrell and Adam McKay’s website “Funny or Die” alongside Don Cheadle, Ray Romano, Cedric “The Entertainer”, and Rob Riggle. In 2012, he performed in Comedy Central’s Comics To Watch showcase in Los Angeles.

Michael trained in improvisation and sketch comedy at The Groundlings, IO West, and is an alumnus of UCB’s advanced improvisation program. He's also studied comedic and dramatic acting at Stan Kirsch Studios in Los Angeles.

Michael is currently performing stand-up, sketch, pitching show ideas, and writing for various television shows and networks.
